Nonviolent Communication training sessions frequently make use of feelings cards and needs cards. The cards from Equanimity are used by various trainers, coaches, and therapists both domestically and abroad, but there are many more providers of such emotion cards for various applications. In this blog post, you can read more about why such card games are such a useful tool, and I provide tips regarding other providers of emotion card sets.
Nonviolent communication
The model of Nonviolent communication (also referred to as Nonviolent communication or Nonviolent communication) was developed by the American psychologist Marshall Rosenberg and is used worldwide in communication training, conflict resolution, and mediation. Within Nonviolent communication, we assume that an unfulfilled need lies behind all judgments and reproaches. We view feelings and emotions as warning lights indicating that certain needs are currently relevant to us. By examining our thoughts, judgments, and reproaches and translating them through feelings into fulfilled and unfulfilled needs, we discover what is truly important to us. Feelings cards and needs cards are a practical tool for practicing this process.
Equanimity feelings cards and needs cards
Equanimity’s cards are available in Dutch and English and can be used by anyone who wants to become familiar with putting feelings and needs into words. The cards expand your vocabulary regarding your inner life. By practicing with this language, you learn to connect more easily with what is alive within you and to offer empathy to others.
Equanimity’s cards distinguish themselves from those of other providers due to their unique design. The feelings and needs are depicted in a visual language that many users experience as supportive in their process. Additionally, Equanimity’s card sets each contain 66 cards, which is considerably more extensive than is typical for such card games.
Other providers of emotion cards
The best-known cards in this field are likely the GROK emotion cards from EarthGames. The GROK cards are available in many languages and include a manual with no fewer than 18 different exercises. A disadvantage of the GROK cards is that the design has no direct relationship with the feelings and needs printed on them, and the cards appear dated. In short, they do not fulfill my needs for clarity and beauty.
In the Nonviolent communication Webshop, you will find a wide variety of other examples of feelings cards and needs cards.
