Training "Parenting in Connection"
Connected Parenting through Nonviolent Communication
*Limited offer: register now for February 13 & 14, 2026, and participate for free in the Introductory Nonviolent Communication Training on February 6, 2026*
How do you stay connected with a child amidst the hectic nature of family life? How do you find space for yourself and your own processes in the fullness of life as a parent? In this 2-day training, we examine how to deal with these challenges and give substance to the concept of Connected Parenting.
The training is open to anyone who has completed at least one day of Nonviolent Communication training. No further prior education is required, and the training is accessible to everyone; the study load consists of the training days themselves. You will receive a folder with information and exercises.
If you have not previously completed a basic training but would still like to participate, please contact us to discuss the possibilities.
The training is conducted by Mae Heffelaar and Boris Nauta. Both are parents. Mae has worked as a pedagogue for the past 15 years and supports parents individually and in groups with parenting issues. In addition, she provides workshops and training in effective communication based on the principles of Nonviolent Communication. Boris is a Certified Nonviolent Communication trainer and the founder of the training agency Equanimity.
Content
Life as a parent requires improvisation, flexibility, and acceptance. Your children change, and the relationships with your partner, family, and friends change. Last but not least, your relationship with yourself changes. You may occasionally wonder when it will be your turn again.
In the dynamics of a family, you discover things about yourself. Children are often a trigger for our own unmet needs. It is the paradox of parenting: our own pain and trauma can be touched, yet due to the busyness of family life, there seems to be almost no time to pause and give it attention. There is always a lunchbox to be filled, someone who needs to go to a sports club, or laundry to be done.
We are not going to tell you what perfect parenting looks like. Instead, we form a circle of parents in which we share and explore based on equality and under professional guidance. Parenting in Connection is not only about connecting with your child but, above all, about connecting with yourself. You will search for a parenting format that fits you and your family perfectly. Parenting without right or wrong, but with clarity, structure, and safety.
Themes that will be covered include:
- Authentic parenting: what do you need as a parent, and what do you find important in upbringing?
- Growing up: what do children need in their various stages of development?
- Parenting: how can these different needs coexist in daily parenting situations?
- Dealing with triggers: how can we handle it when we are triggered ourselves?
