Mindfulness training (MBSR)
Mindfulness training helps to cultivate an attitude that forms the basis of emotional intelligence. Through mindfulness training, you develop the ability to build attention and concentration through meditation and other exercises. In this course, you will learn to be more present in conversations, strengthen your relationships and develop greater empathy. By gaining clarity and inner calm, you will be better able to regulate your response to stressful and emotional situations.
There are many ways to practice Mindfulness. Equanimity offers the scientifically validated Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program, developed by American professor Jon Kabat-Zinn to combat chronic stress and pain. Kabat-Zinn combined his knowledge of Buddhist meditation techniques with insights from Western psychology and neuroscience.

What are the benefits of mindfulness training?
Thanks to numerous medical, biological, psychological and neurological studies, it has been proven that mindfulness training:

What is the idea behind mindfulness?
From a philosophical perspective, elements of mindfulness can be found in traditions with a Buddhist background, such as yoga, Zen, Vipassana and tai chi. Spiritual thinker Eckhart Tolle argues that by living ‘in the present moment’, you are freed from worrying about the past and the future. After all, ‘thinking’ bombards you non-stop with emotions, worries and fears, thereby taking over your consciousness. As a result, you miss out on real life, which passes you by whilst your attention is elsewhere.
The scientifically oriented view of mindfulness addresses the challenges that the modern world presents to us. Rapid technological developments have brought media and devices into our lives that compete for our attention every second. One technological development leads to another, causing major and unexpected changes in our lives. This can lead to uncertainty, tension and stress because our evolutionary stress system is not equipped to deal with this. Mindfulness is an effective way to learn to cope with this better.
Het Mindfulness trainingsprogramma
The MBSR programme consists of eight weekly sessions, each lasting around two hours. It is a manageable period that is long enough to have a lasting effect. Mindfulness is developed through practice, so it is a practical training programme. During each session, we cover a theoretical aspect and do exercises such as sitting meditation and other mindfulness exercises. If you want to get the most out of the training, set aside 15 to 45 minutes a day during this period to practise at home. This way, you will truly master a new way of dealing with old patterns.
